Bit of progress today. Ended up introducing a small feature I’ve been toying with in my head for a while, faux-hyperbolic viewing of the tilemap. Faux-hyperbolic because it isn’t exact as using hexagons would be, but ruins the aspect ratio of every tile further than a few tiles from the center. I think the effect works, however, and will hopefully make for easier viewing of far off areas on the island.
Tomorrow, finishing the map generation (so that it creates an actual island), adding a working message log and stats window, and adding the barebones gameplay to make the actual game.
