What’s shown is the not very complicated approach to making the game have a purpose beyond running away from tigers, and this system will replace traditional experience and leveling. If you help out the friendly swamis then they’ll bless you in return, which will have some degree of choice about which stats are improved and accordingly you’ll be able to engage in a bit of character building.
It’s hard though. Playtesting just to get that screenshot wasn’t easy and that’s with me cheesing every trick I have observed with the AI and movement system!
EDIT: Made heaps more progress with the ‘spell’ system, it’s basically feature complete and here’s one of the high level powers in action – charming a friendly little kittey friend for a dungeon crawling pal.
