Failure Report (TTTTTTT) and Announcement (ThThTh)

The Time Travel Trickery Tshallenge’s Temporal Tumbledryer is a failure. With all the things that needed to be done before I move house, getting a time travel system up and running was 7 flavours of impossible. I plan to continue it (and Surrounded) when I have more time.

My artist made some really nice sprites, though, so it wouldn’t be fair to just drop the challenge and leave them unused. I’ve thought of a more easy-to-implement concept that I think I can get done in two days:

Threaky Thriday Thieth

Same kind of setup – thief wants treasure, guard wants treasure to stay in building. Unfortunately for them, the building’s a bit screwed up and they get their consciousnesses transplanted at regular intervals. Every 20 seconds or so, the thief takes control of the guard’s body and vice versa. If the thief is about to escape with treasure when the switch happens, then they will not enjoy their new life as the guard who let the thief escape. And vice versa. If the player wins in either role, then the next round there’ll be 3, 4, or more people rotating through thief and guard roles.

Probably inspired by Darren Grey’s Weakest Link ADOM competition, but with stupider opponents. a 2DRL is not the place to look for good AI. Hopefully it’ll still be challenging enough.
