Down the Brain: Success!

A roguelike about depression. šŸ™

Play it here:

Whew! Managed to “finish” it, but I didn’t have time to test it, so I don’t know if it’s super easy, difficult or even playable. At this point I just threw it out there. Built in 3 days, since I came late to the party – also, my main harddrive died so I had to make it on an old laptop. Thanks to my girlfriend it actually has graphics. The music was cobbled together mere minutes ago.

This is my first roguelike, and the first game I’ve finished in years. It was a lot of fun to make, and I’m sorry I couldn’t make it better in time. I might make a proper sequel.

      1. Ok finished on second run, nice “ending” šŸ™‚
Mechanic is quite easy, but still fun, make it bit harder, print “failed at level” message if you fail, and it’ll be perfect coffebreak roguelike šŸ™‚

  1. Won it on first try. Am I THAT much into depression? šŸ™‚
Combat mechanics is … strange. Sometimes you can run thru enemies without even fighting!
Nice art style and sounds/music. But way too easy.
I used all weapon/shield items immediately, stocking healing items.
At some point I was simply whacking everything around without taking much damage.

    1. Nice one! Ah, I was hoping it would be more of a challenge near the end. The combat mechanics are weird, I know, ran out of time to polish stuff I’m afraid.
