Release the h@ckeRL

My second 7DRL. This time I’m entering alone.

Last year a friend and I worked on an ambitious multiplayer roguelike-like, which, confused people on how to install and run it, because it was written in Erlang. Even though it did not get any recognition, we were pretty proud of actually finishing it.

With the lesson learned from last year, I’d start with just a single player game, based around hacking. The player will join a hacking organization and perform various hacking tasks for money and fame. The more reputation the player gets, the more dangerous the tasks are, but the rewards are plenty.

I got the basic storyline, races, attributes and equipments down. Gameplay is a bit hard to think about, but I think the player will play on a computer circuit, trying to navigate through memory sectors to find the target, while fighting virus, firewall, and even antivirus, and collecting left behind private and/or encrypted files and documents.

I’m starting today and the time after work, so hopefully I can get the basic gameplay done.

I’m planning on using rot.js for map generation, with React.js for displaying. Input handling will be handled manually.

Need to find a way to generate random dungeon that looks like a computer circuit 🙂

Off I go.
