My game this year is Goblin-COM, which will be an X-COM inspired squad-combat “roguelike” about defending an island against invading goblins. I’ve really been into the XCOM series of games lately, so I wanted to make my own. To start I’m working on map generation and economy simulation. I particularly liked this random map so I took a screenshot. The actual map is lively and animated, which a simple screenshot doesn’t really capture.
I’m going library-free so that I have a single, minimal executable. It already has working platform layers for both Windows and Linux, so the final game will run on both these platforms. I’m also planning on hosting a telnet version, so people can play remotely (NAO-style).
